The Young Professionals Organization (YPO) affiliated to the United National Party, held the Annual General Meeting on 28th August 2019 at the Temple Trees, Colombo, in the presence of Hon. Harshana Rajakaruna, MP, Chairman of the organization.
The YPO is one of the most active affiliated professionals’ organization working cohesively towards bringing value for Sri Lanka and the United National Party by creating a dialogue among young professionals.
Ably led by Hon. Harshana Rajakaruna, the YPO organized several events in the past year 2018/19. Programs such as professional forums on timely topics on the current political, economic and social affairs that are of importance to the country; interactive programs with Ministers and the membership titled “Meet the Minister” to allow members to provide professional opinion and feedback; public welfare and CSR programs in order to contribute towards the betterment of the community.
The YPO played a vital role in educating the professional segments and the public at the time of the Constitutional Coup complemented by the candlelight vigil to silently protest for democracy and the active involvement in organizing the forum with the leader of the UNP, Premier Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, titled “Repercussions of the Constitutional Coup” by Professionals for Democracy, along with the party’s other professional groups; also active involvement in social media activities were few of such initiatives taken.
The AGM of the YPO was held with the intention of appointing the new committees of the YPO’s Colombo and Gampaha Chapters along with the appointment of the new committee of the organization’s National committee, for the year 2019/20.
