Powerful Earthquake Strikes Japan

According to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System, there is no threat of a tsunami from today’s magnitude 7.1 earthquake in the Pacific 89 km southeast of Sendai, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

The quake, which also felt in Tokyo, where it registered a 4 on the Japanese scale, struck around 11:08 p.m., according to the Meteorological Agency. A tsunami warning was not issued. (JapanTimes)
