The Working Committee (WC) of the United National Party (UNP) had unanimously approved a proposal during its meeting today to nominate party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the UNP nominee for Parliament.
Party Chairman Vajira Abeywardena moved the motion while former Minister Ananda Kularatne passed the motion.
All members of the Working Committee were of the view that Ranil Wickremesinghe should go to Parliament as soon as possible and contribute to building a strong opposition force.
