Raids have been launched on vendors selling poultry at prices higher than the control price set by the government, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said.

CAA states that they have received many complaints from across the island regarding vendors who sell chicken at a price higher than the control price.

The government issued a gazette setting a control price for skinless chicken at Rs 500 per kilogram and Rs 430 for a kilogram of chicken with skin.

The CAA said that the consumers are able to lodge complaints against poultry vendors who sell chicken at a higher price
