Jaffna Lends a Hand To Students in Jaffna To Continue Their Education

The event was organized under the guidance of Security Forces Commander – Jaffna, Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi and in collaboration with the Hounslow Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation in UK. 50 students from low income families in Jaffna area were given with scholarships during the event. These students will be given Rs. 5000 per month for a period of 5 years to assist their education. Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna is continuing to support students in Jaffna area for their education and another event in a series held today, 21 January 2018 at Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna.


Mr Srilal Diyas and a few other Sri Lankans who are living in UK participated in this occasion representing the Hounslow Sri Lankean Janahanda Foundation. Security Forces Commander – Jaffna, Maj General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Divisional Secretary Mr Nagalingam Vedanaham, Director of Customs Mr Wasantha Silva, Teachers, Parents and Officers in the Security Forces Headquarters were also in attendance. The security forces commander Jaffna had a brief discussion with the parents of those student on their grievances as well.
