Sri Lanka has threatened to withdraw from any international organisation which continues to exert pressure on the military.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that leaders of powerful countries have emphatically stated that they would not allow any action against their war heroes.

“As such, in a small country likes ours where our war heroes have sacrificed so much, I will not allow anyone or organisation to exert undue pressure on them and harass them,” he said.

Rajapaksa said that if any international country or body continues to target Sri Lanka and its war heroes using baseless allegations, he will not hesitate to withdraw Sri Lanka from such bodies or organisations.

The President was speaking at the 11th National War Heroes’ Day event held at the Battaramulla National War Heroes’ Monument today (Tuesday)
