2026 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 27 දින උදෑසන 5.30 ට නිකුත් කරන ලදී
බටහිර-මධ්‍යම බෙංගාල බොක්ක ආශ්‍රිතව පැවති “ඔර්නබ්” (Arnab) ප්‍රබල සුළි කුණාටුව තවදුරටත් වර්ධනය වී 'ඉතා ප්‍රබල සුළි කුණාටුවක්' බවට පත්වී අද (2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 27) අලුයම 02.30 වන විට උතුරු අක්ෂාංශ 15.9° සහ නැගෙනහිර දේශාංශ 85.4° ආසන්නයේ, එනම් කන්කසන්තුරේ සිට කිලෝමීටර් 890 ක් පමණ ඊසාන දෙසින් කේන්ද්‍රගතව පැවතුනි. මෙය අද (2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 27) දින ප.ව. 05.30 දක්වා බටහිර බරව වයඹ දෙසට ගමන් කිරීමට බොහෝ දුරට ඉඩ ඇති අතර, ඉන් අනතුරුව වයඹ දෙසට ගමන් කරමින්, 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 28 වන දින පෙරවරු 11.30 වන විට ආන්ද්‍ර ප්‍රදේශ් වෙරළ තීරය හරහා ඉන්දීය ගොඩබිමට ගමන් කිරීමට බොහෝ දුරට ඉඩ ඇත.
මෙම පද්ධතියේ සෘජු බලපෑමක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට නොමැතිවුවද එම පද්ධතිය වෙත ඇදීයන සුළං ප්‍රවාහය දිවයින හරහා පවතින බැවින් දිවයිනේ නිරිතදිග ප්‍රදේශයේ වැසි තත්ත්වය අද දිනයේදී තවදුරටත් අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.
බස්නාහිර, සබරගමුව, දකුණු සහ වයඹ පළාත්වල සහ මහනුවර සහ නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කවල විටින් විට වැසි හෝ ගිගුරුම් සහිත වැසි ඇති විය හැකි අතර මෙම ප්‍රදේශවල ඇතැම් ස්ථාන වලට මි.මී. 75 ට වැඩි තරමක තද වැසි ඇති විය හැක.
නැගෙනහිර පළාතේ පස්වරු 1.00න් පසුව ස්ථාන ස්වල්පයක වැසි හෝ ගිගුරුම් සහිත වැසි ඇති විය හැක.
මධ්‍යම කඳුකරයේ බටහිර බෑවුම් ප්‍රදේශවලත් උතුරු, උතුරු-මැද සහ වයඹ පළාත්වලත් ත්‍රිකුණාමලය සහ හම්බන්තොට දිස්ත්‍රික්කවලත් විටින් විට හමන පැ.කි.මී. (40-50) ක පමණ තද සුළං ඇතිවිය හැක.
ගිගුරුම් සහිත වැසි සමග ඇතිවිය හැකි තාවකාලික තද සුළං වලින් සහ අකුණු මඟින් සිදු වන අනතුරු අවම කර ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ජනතාවගෙන් කාරුණිකව ඉල්ලා සිටිනු ලැබේ.

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Arnab” over West central Bay of Bengal intensified into a ‘Very Severe Cyclonic Storm’ and lay centered at 02.30 a.m. of today, the 27th October, 2026 over the near latitude 15.9°N and longitude 85.4°E about 890 km to the north-east of Kankasanthurai. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards till 05.30 p.m. of 27th October and thereafter, it is very likely to move northwestwards and cross the Indian land through Andhra Pradesh coast as a very severe cyclonic storm by 11.30 a.m. of 28th October, 2026.
Although this system is not expected to have a direct impact on Sri Lanka, the showery condition over the southwestern parts of the island is expected continue today, as the wind flow associated with the system extends across the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts and, fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in these areas.
Showers or thunder showers will occur at a few places after 1.00 p.m. in the Eastern province.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the Central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota Districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
