The Government has decided to import 100,000 MT of rice from Myanmar in order to maintain a buffer stock.
The rice stock will be imported from Myanmar based on the agreement between the governments of Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
The agreement with regard to import of 100,000 Mt of rice was signed today .
Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardene said that the government also expects to provide a kilo or rice below Rs 100 by importing this stock to the country.
