IASL to Launch E-Motor Insurance Digital Card and Hand Over 500 Tablets to Sri Lanka Police

The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) will host the official launch of the E-Motor Insurance Digital Card and the handover of 500 tablets to the Sri Lanka Police on 7 of January 2026at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs – Suhurupaya, Battaramulla.

The event will bring together IASL Office Bearers, the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL), CEOs of all General Insurance companies, representatives of the Sri Lanka Police, Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Digital Economy, telecommunications partners, members of the General Insurance Forum (GIF) and Marketing & Sales Forum (MSF).

The launch will mark a significant step in Sri Lanka’s journey toward motor insurance digitalisation, with the E-Motor Card set to replace the traditional physical insurance card. The donation of 500 tablets by the 13 General Insurance member companies will support the rollout of the Police Department’s new Accident Management System, strengthening real-time digital reporting and improving road-safety management.

IASL will also outline upcoming digital initiatives, including the National Insurance Verification System, which will be available to the public from January 2026 via a simplified verification code (2252) through USSD, SMS, or IVR.
