The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be closed from January 3, 2022.
The Ministry of Energy announced that, the oil refinery will be closed due to the issues faced with obtaining crude oil as a result of the foreign exchange crisis in Sri Lanka.
The refinery is expected to resume operations before January 30, 2022.
However, the Ministry of Energy has assured that there will be no shortage of fuel in Sri Lanka as a result.
