Sapugaskanda oil refinery will be temporarily closed for 50 days with effect from today, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said.
Addressing the media at the Ministry of Energy, Minister Gammanpila assured that the closure of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery will not cause an oil shortage in the country.
“People in the country should not panic about crude oil because it is only used by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. Even though several people try to create a scene by fueling the situation, I assure that there would not be a fuel shortage in the country”, he said.
