Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform, President’s Counsel, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa participated as the Chief Guest of the National Independence Day Ceremony organized by the South African High Commission in Sri Lanka yesterday afternoon (2023.04.27) in order to celebrate the 29th National Independence Day of the Republic of South Africa. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Foreign Affairs President’s Counsel Ali Sabri, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya, Member of Parliament Prof. G.L. After the end of apartheid in South Africa, all races got the opportunity to vote on April 27, 1996, and in honor of that day, the South African people have declared April 27 as National Independence Day. Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and South Africa began in 1994.
