In an exciting development for the Esports community, the Sri Lankan Women’s National Team Powered by Dialog was selected to represent Sri Lanka at the IESF World Esports Championship 2023 and other international tournaments. This talented group of individuals were carefully selected by the Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) for their exceptional skills and dedication to their game titles.
The Sri Lanka Esports Association was initiated by Gamer.LK and four other founding members in 2010. The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sri Lanka has recognized the association with its twelve member organisations as the governing body for Esports in the country.
The International Esports Federation (IESF) is the world’s governing body for Esports, with the mission of promoting Esports as a sport beyond geographical boundaries. It has 130 member national federations from all over the world and works to provide equal support and opportunities for Esports athletes worldwide.
The recent World Esports Championship held in Iasi, Romania, featured 120 countries competing in seven games which includes Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). Led by their captain, Kaumini Gunasinghe, the Sri Lankan women’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, team included Sumuduni Shashikala, Inshani Shalinga, Nadee Ranasinghe, Aishwarya Ariyaratne, and Kasuni Lokuarachchi.
Additionally, the Sri Lankan Women’s Dota 2 team, featuring Nadeeshani Jayasinghe, Semini Perera, Madushika Amarasekara, Nardhya Grero, and Thushangi Amanda were selected to represent the country.
The Global Esports Federation is a non-governmental organisation that convenes the world’s Esports community and is the organizer of the Global Esports Games (GEG) which featured popular game titles Dota 2, eFootball, Street Fighter and PUBG MOBILE for its 2022 edition.

The Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) was founded in 2010 and is the officially recognised body for the governance of Esports in Sri Lanka by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Esports was recognised as the 70th official sport in Sri Lanka in 2019 and SLESA actively promotes the sport as ‘Sri Lanka Esports’. SLESA consists of member clans working together with other stakeholders to provide the framework and governance for Esports allowing it to be promoted and grow within the country.
