A woman has been arrested for drug possession in the Urumalei area in Talaimannar today (19). According to the information received by the troops of 54 Infantry Division in coordination with the Talaimannar Police conducted this raid.
The suspected woman was arrested after she was found to be in possession of 359 grams of Cristlameth (Ice).
The selling and possessing of drugs across the Northern and Eastern areas have been rising since the end of the armed conflict. In the past years, over a hundred drug smugglers have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an illegal drug ring by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
