The 67th Mercantile Open Table Tennis Championship 2023, a thrilling showcase of sporting
action, unfolded recently at S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia.
Among the standout talents gracing the event was Xian Supuna Warusawithana, a prolific
employee of 99x, whose skills left a lasting mark on the championship.
In a captivating display of sportsmanship, Supuna Warusawithana representing 99x, swept
the board by emerging as the Men’s Open Singles Champion and the Champion of the Open
Mix Doubles as well as earning the 2 nd Runner-Up award for the Men’s Open Doubles by
displaying exceptional table tennis abilities. While his achievements were recognised within
the local stage, Supuna’s journey extends beyond borders as he is set to represent both Sri
Lanka and 99x at the prestigious Merdeka Cup 2023 in Malaysia. This international
endeavour not only serves as a witness to his sporting skill but also stands as a
demonstration of his invaluable contribution to 99x’s success.
Supuna’s commitment to Table Tennis has earned him the distinction of being the most
